During their migrations these nomads who had to face weather conditions, learned to use goat hair in the making of their tents. Goat hair is longer and much solid than sheep's wool. The flat weave technique was used in the making of nomadic tents. The first one is called double knot or Turkish knot, and naturally given a firmer and soft weave and more durable rug. The second one is known as the single knot or Persian knot. Whenever you plan to purchase Turkish rug then first of all examine whether it is hand made or machine made. Hand made rugs are usually made of natural material like sheep wool or goat and camel’s hair. Many people think that hand made rugs give more advantages and are long lasting. They are much durable than synthetic or artificial rugs. They give warmth to your rooms and have better ability to absorb dust from room to keep air clean.
While machine made rugs are mostly made of artificial material like polyester, nylon and cotton. Despite of low prices they also have appreciated durability. Synthetic rugs are often more affordable than natural material made rugs and they are also have high level of stain resistance than natural rugs.
